SAME WI-FI. A LITTLE CLOSER.
Your file.
Just over there.
Pair two browsers. Pick a file. Pass it across your local network.
Your file never needs an internet relay.
Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi. Open MeowShare normally to choose Sender or Receiver. A shared invitation opens directly in Receiver mode. Keep both pages open while the file travels.
A GOOD PLACE TO START
What’s your role?
Choose what this browser will do.
Each browser checks its own features. Pairing checks whether your devices can reach each other. Hosting a local HTTP server requires the installed MeowShare app.
A PRIVATE HELLO
Pair browsers directly.
Create an invitation on one screen. Join it on the other.
Scan this code on the other screen.
This link opens the other browser in Receiver mode.
Copy the pairing code instead
For offline pairing, scan the QR on each screen in turn. Copying codes also works; keep them private.
Compare this code on both screens.
Only confirm if both codes match and you recognize the other device.
Local route checked · encrypted connection
A GOOD THING TO PASS ALONG
Send a little something.
Pair both browsers to start.
Pair with a Sender, then approve the file they offer. Save your verified file before closing this page.
Received & SHA-256 verified
Save before refreshing or closing this page. Only your latest received file is kept here.
File verification
The other browser approves each file. “Received & verified” confirms the bytes arrived correctly; saving to the device is a separate step.
READY WHEN THE INTERNET ISN’T
The Wi-Fi does the work.
Firebase loads this page the first time. Once its offline copy is ready, you can reopen it without internet and pair using the codes above. Your selected files stay out of the website cache.
Preparing the offline copy…
Does this use my mobile data?
The intended transfer route stays on the local network. There is no STUN server, TURN relay, cloud pairing service, or file upload endpoint. Loading or updating the website uses internet. Use the same Wi-Fi with VPNs off for local routing; browser code cannot control your operating system’s VPN routes.
Why do I scan twice?
Both browsers need each other’s connection details. One creates an invitation; the other creates a reply. Exchanging both codes replaces an internet pairing server.
What if the devices won’t connect?
Allow Local Network access if your browser asks. Use the same ordinary Wi-Fi network; guest networks and some hotspots isolate devices. Pair again with a fresh invitation. If the browser can’t establish and verify a local route, the transfer stops.
Can I close the page during a transfer?
Keep both pages open and your devices awake. Background transfers, folders, batches, and resuming interrupted files aren’t supported in this beta. Received files stay in browser memory until you save them.
